College Road Recording has the technology to meet any of your recording needs.  Our main recording medium is the Mackie HDR24/96, a 24 track, 24 bit hard disk recording system.  It has full cut/paste, drag and drop non-linear editing capabilities and is designed to work perfectly with our main console the Mackie D8B.  We are also equipped with 24 tracks of 20 bit ADAT so we are able to work with any project that originated from the ADAT format.  The Mackie D8B is a fully automated console with 4 band parametric eq, compression and gating on every channel.  In addition to the Mackie Hard Disk system we run a PC based Digital Audio Workstation that is equipped with mastering software with a multitude of plug-ins.  We also use the PC DAW for pitch correction, the creation of loops, and for creating background tracks with Sonic Foundry's ACID software.  The DAW and the Mackie system are connected through an ethernet network for digital transfers

On the front end of the recording chain we use microphones from Neumann, AKG, Audio-Technica, Rode, CAD, and Shure.  From soft intimate vocals and acoustic guitar to thundering drums and Marshall 4x12 cabinets we've got a mic for every occasion.  In addition to all of the digital gear that we use we like to add warmth to recording with vacuum tube preamps, analog eq and compression from Avalon, Empirical Labs, Focusrite, & dbx.

The studio is comprised of a main room, drum room, control room, and a vocal isolation booth.  Each isolation booth, and the drum room are treated with Auralex acoustic Foam and bass traps to ensure unwanted frequencies don't cause a problem.  For an optimum listening environment, the control room has hard wood floors an is treated with Auralex acoustic foam, bass traps and diffusion panels.

The studio can accommodate most bands, small choirs, etc. To make rrecording easier we are able to provide 7 different headphone mixes simultaneously, so everyone can hear what they need to hear to get their best performance. But what really makes a great recording, not all of the equipment, its great songs, and great performances. The songs are your part, but we do all we can to create an environment that is relaxed and comfortable so you can focus on your music and enjoy  the process of recording. We also are able to provide a musician lounge with a TV, stereo, & DVD player so when the vocalist is doing their 30th take the band can be relaxing.  The Studio is located at 2916 N. Monroe.
